Celebrate GIS Day with the Power of Aerial Imagery & Data Analytics
Happy GIS Day 2024!
Annually, we get a chance to celebrate the wonder that is Geographic Information Systems (GIS), tools and technology used to help us make better sense of the world, to analyze and map all kinds of data. And as one of those supporters of GIS, we help drive better decision-making and exploration of the world through our massive library of high-resolution aerial imagery and our AI-derived data analytics on our imagery.
So as you reflect on all the goodness GIS has brought into your world, the positive changes and ripple effects it has unleashed, we wanted to share how aerial imagery and data analytics is making GIS better, day in and day out, across multiple industries and for a variety of purposes.
Visualization
Imagery provides a real-world view to help you easily interpret and understand other spatial data layers, like boundaries, points of interest, and elevation data, immersing you within an environment. It gives you the opportunity to see things from multiple viewpoints such as with oblique imagery, for example, to virtually tour locations with ease without being present on site.
Change Detection
A big advantage of having access to a historical library of imagery is being able to make comparisons. By comparing imagery captured at different times, you can identify changes in land use, infrastructure, or environmental conditions over time, and with GIS platforms, enable monitoring and analysis of trends.
