More Imagery in More Places, More Often
The demand for aerial imagery continues to grow across multiple industries, from government to telecommunications, insurance to construction and more. To meet this growing need, Vexcel, already the largest aerial imagery program in the world, is expanding and enhancing its United States collection program in 2023. Here’s some high-level stats:
4.2 million km2 total collection plan
93.1% U.S. population coverage
Up to 3 collections in urban areas
1.2 million km2 of cities at 7.5cm
5x more coverage than competition
118 million U.S. households
Existing U.S. Imagery Footprint
Existing U.S. Footprint
Vexcel’s existing U.S. footprint currently includes coverage across the contiguous U.S., covering 7.6 million km2 and 99.6% population coverage. It is the largest collection of its kind with unmatched accuracy, high-resolution imagery, and consistency across the imagery library.

Even More Imagery in 2023
In 2023, Vexcel plans to collect 4.2 million km2 of aerial imagery across urban, suburban, and rural areas in the U.S. This means more than 93% of the U.S. population will be refreshed with new high-resolution imagery.1
More Cities at the Highest Resolution
Our 2023 plan more than triples our 7.5cm orthomosaic collection from last year. We will collect roughly 1.2 million km2 of 7.5cm ortho imagery in urban areas, covering 84% of the U.S. population. See more buildings, homes, infrastructure, and other items in more areas, in greater detail.
Up to 3 Collections
Also new for 2023: Vexcel will collect orthomosiac imagery up to three times throughout the year; twice at 7.5cm resolution and once at 15cm resolution.
These more frequent collections will provide more visualizations and more data to customers for key population centers across the country.

Multiple Viewpoints of Every Property
In addition, Oblique imagery will be collected across major metro areas, refreshing nearly 70% of the population. Spin around properties for a multi-direction view at a 7.5cm resolution.

Refreshing Smaller Cities & Rural Regions
Many smaller populated areas and rural regions will be collected at 15cm for 2023, refreshing a large part of our coast-to-coast orthomosaic photo map of the contiguous United States.
Only Vexcel offers aerial imagery at this scale and resolution in the U.S.
5x more coverage than competitors
This year’s program offers up to 5 times more coverage than our closest competitor.
Aerial imagery is captured with award-winning UltraCam sensors from Vexcel Imaging, a business unit of the Vexcel Group, and collected with our dedicated fleet of fixed-wing aircraft. No other aerial or drone program matches our coverage, and our true image resolution is up to 16 times better than satellite imagery.
All aerial data is positioned against ground control points for unmatched accuracy and quality and delivered at a consistency that sets the standard for photogrammetry excellence.
