Collecting imagery that highlights the aftermath of a major weather event, such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and wildfires, comes with many challenges. The stability of the environment comes into play, whether or not smoke, high winds, or other obstructions can prevent our talented Gray Sky team from capturing what real truth on the ground looks like.
But we’ve learned a few things as the longest running disaster imagery capture program in the U.S. It’s a multi-faceted and heavily coordinated process to ensure we get aerial imagery collected, processed, and delivered to our members and emergency managers as soon as possible.
