Gray Sky: Cottonwood Fire, Utah
Imagery published & available in Vexcel Platform
Overview
Our Gray Sky team has been monitoring the Cottonwood Fire since it began on June 22 near Beaver, Utah. Days later, the fire exploded to become the largest active wildfire in the U.S. Once weather allowed, we deployed an aircraft to collect aerial imagery in support of emergency response, recovery, and property-level damage assessments.
We continue to monitor conditions as the fire remains active. Our thoughts are with the communities affected by the fire.

Imagery Published
High-resolution 10cm ortho and multispectral imagery has been published in the Vexcel Platform and select partner platforms.
The imagery provides a detailed view of properties impacted by the Cottonwood Fire across western Beaver County, Utah, including portions of the Fishlake National Forest, Eagle Point ski lodge, and surrounding communities.
When compared with previous Vexcel imagery collections, the imagery makes it easy to identify what changed over time. This helps with property assessments, recovery planning, and infrastructure evaluations across insurance, government, and utility organizations. Property-level damage assessments will also be available within the Gray Sky collection.
Multispectral imagery provides another way to understand the fire’s impact. Unlike standard aerial imagery, it clearly distinguishes healthy vegetation from burned and damaged areas, making it easier to see burn patterns, identify affected vegetation, and understand the overall extent of the fire.
